'Furious 7' passes one million in 4DX attendance

CJ 4Dplex announced that the global attendance for Furious 7 at 4DX theatres passed one million this week. Looking to follow in that blockbuster’s footsteps, Avengers: Age of Ultron will make its U.S. debut in 4DX this weekend at the Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, with advance ticket sales averaging an 85 percent occupancy rate. In comparison, the ten countries in which Avengers opened last week are boasting a 79 percent average occupancy.

“We are so thrilled that fans are enjoying the extremely realistic experience of Furious 7 in 4DX,” said Byung Hwan Choi, CEO of CJ 4Dplex. “Our post-production editors are proud of the final product, which utilizes all of 4DX`s effects like wind, rain and seat motion and simulates the excitement of high-octane car sequences.”

With over one million in global attendance this week, Furious 7 has broken the previous 4DX record held by Transformers: Age of Extinction, which tallied an audience of 730,000 last August. The highest average occupancy rate for Furious 7 is Switzerland (90 percent), followed by Taiwan and Israel (85 percent).

Avengers: Age of Ultron, which opens in most countries including the U.S. this weekend, has screened in 4DXto extraordinary first week results in ten countries around the world. During that first week, the highest average occupancy came from Hong Kong (90 percent), followed by the Philippines (85 percent) and Israel (84 percent).

4DX has over 170 screens worldwide, with the L.A. LIVE location the first one in the United States.
